Heavenly Creatures

Overall - GOOD

Rent or Own- RENT

In a word or two- "Troubled true tale of teenage obsession"

This isn't so much a lesbian movie but a relationship study of an intense dangerous friendship.

Whats troubling about this film is that it is based on a true story.

Two oddball girls find friendship in each other and together they make up fantasy lives which they take to a troubling level. The fact that they become lovers is almost inconsequential. They become so obsessed that when one of their mothers wants to seperate them, they murder her.

The film is very good, entertaining and well acted.

In a word or two- "Troubling look into the life of a talented but drug

addicted lesbian "

High Art is so good on so many levels. The acting is superb and Alley Sheedy's quirkiness is a natural fit for this character.  What is so lovely about the movie is the absolutely adorable Rhada Mitchell who plays a young magazine editor who finds herself drawn into the life and love of a troubled out of the seen artist, played by Sheedy.

The movie is good, because it is a good character study and many women will be able to relate to Sid (Rhada Mitchell) surprising attraction to this amazing but troubled woman.

It is much easier to watch than "Boys Don't Cry", but once you see it once it is hard to take knowing the ending.

The Hunger

The Hunger

Overall - GOOD

StoryLine- B

Chemistry- B+

Love Scenes- B

Rent or Own- RENT maybe own

In a word or two- " Catherine Deneuve and Susan Sarandon, Oh my!"

In its day the Hunger was considered Avant Garde and the flick quickly became a cult classic. It is easy to see why... it IS entertaining, it is not a deep film, nor does it have to be. It also has some very cool 80's music.

The film is a gothic vampire flick set in modern day (80's) New York. A very

sexy and mysterious woman, Miram (Deneuve) and her lover John (played by David Bowie) seek the help of a beautiful intelligent scientist (Sarandon) who

is researching stopping the aging process.  John is suffering from an illness

and is desperately seeking a cure.

Sarandon's character is easily seduced by this eccentric pair, especially Miram.

The electricity and chemistry between Deneuve and Sarandon is very

passionate, whch can sum the movie up very nicely.
