In a word or two- "Lesbian classic, beautifully acted and tragic "
This is the movie that jet setted Angelina Jolie's career and almost killed
her at the same time. Angelina has a habit of becoming her character
and Gia Carrangi was a wreck! This is a beautifully acted and touching movie tracing the life of super model and very out lesbian, Gia Carrangi. Gia Carrangi was one of the first female victims of AIDS.
The chemistry between the actresses draws you in and makes you feel for both the characters. The love scene (on the unedited version) is beautiful.

In a word or two- "forgettable"
This just isn't the great film it was cracked up to be. A real disappointment, it's somewhat boring. The only reason we watched it all the way thru was because we had to review it.
The film centers around lesbian dating woe's and the entire film is narrated
by the two main characters, which doesn't work. We did not buy the chemistry between the actresses and the love scene was by far better with one of the supporting characters than it was with the two main gals who are supposed to be falling in love. Just didn't work.

In a word or two- "Not entirely a lesbian movie, but very good nonetheless"
This is a collaboration of stories about women. One storyline centers on Casey an otherwise straight attorney and her brief affair with a woman, Casey an Ad Exec. It is a very real to life story which many of us can relate to.

In a word or two- "Good, not great"
For it's time this was a very good lesbian black and white film. Guinevere Turner
is absolutely adorable as the butch and very likeable, Max. It is almost a documentary of lesbian life and dating, but there IS a storyline to it. Max gets set up with the very wall flowerish, Ely. Yuck! Even, Max puts it very well in song, when she is first approached by her friends with the set up, "U,G,L,Y she ain' t got no alibi, she's ugly" - very cute.
Anyway's, the storyline is workable, the film was again pretty good for it's time, the chemistry only happens when the two love interests actually get down to business, other than that the connection just didn't work.
